Independent Police Review Events CRC Community Dialogue on Police Crowd Control Practices Community Events COMMUNITY DIALOGUE ON POLICE CROWD CONTROL PRACTICES Date: Wednesday, February 27th, 2019 Time: 6pm - 8pm Location: Portland State University, Smith Memorial Student Union, Room 238 The Crowd Control Workgroup Wants to Hear Your Feedback The Citizen Review Committee (CRC) was created in 2001 to help improve police accountability, promote higher standards of police services, and increase public confidence. The Crowd Control Workgroup of the CRC examines existing crowd control policies, training, and tactics of the Portland Police Bureau, reviews crowd control best practices, legal standards and other information, and makes appropriate recommendations. As part of our review of how the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) has responded to protests and events, we would like to gather feedback directly from the community. If you experienced or witnessed the exercise of crowd control tactics by the PPB at any event in the last three years, we invite you to share your thoughts and observations at our community forum. In small group dialogues, we will be discussing four specific topics related to crowd control: equipment use, de- escalation tactics, bias towards particular groups of protestors, and recommendations for PPB training. Please RSVP via our Facebook event here. Advanced RSVP is not required - it will help allocate time for discussion, but we will do our best to accommodate everyone who shows up and would like to address the forum. We will also be providing forms that can be filled out for those who have information to share but do not wish to speak publicly. 2019-02-27 18:00:00.0 2019-02-27 20:00:00.0 0 0 0
