Stewardship Calendar Friends of Mt. Tabor Park Weed Warriors Volunteer Opportunities/Fundraisers Friends of Mt. Tabor Park Weed Warriors Mt. Tabor Visitor Center The Friends of Mt. Tabor Park relies on the generous support of our volunteers to keep the park safe, clean, and accessible to all. Scroll down to see how you can help make a difference. Weed Warriors ​ Every last Saturday from March through October, 9am-12pm, FMTP Weed Warrior volunteers meet at the Mt. Tabor Visitor Center (near the amphitheater) to remove invasive plant species and restore native habitat to Mt. Tabor Park. All tools are provided. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes, long pants, and long sleeves to protect yourself as you work alongside trees and bushes, including thorny blackberry. If you have a favorite pair of work gloves, bring those as well (though we have gloves you can borrow). Bring your own water bottle to stay hydrated. We'll provide a mid-work snack. ​ Volunteers of all ages are welcome to participate. However, any volunteer under 16 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone; and children under 8 must be in the company of an adult for the duration of the service project. EE Calendar Ladybug Walk at Irving Park Community Events Weekly nature walks for toddlers and preschoolers in a Portland Park near the tennis courts along NE 7th Ave., near intersection of NE Fargo Ladybug Walks are perfect for toddlers, preschoolers and their grown-ups who want to investigate nature in Portland's parks with trained preschool naturalists! Children explore and discover nature with an Environmental Educator at just the right pace. Walks introduce children to plants, creeks, insects, birds, and animals. All walks are geared for children ages 2-6 and last about an hour. No pre-registration necessary - just arrive at the meeting spot at 10am, rain or shine!
