Ladybug Walks 2019 (ages 2–6)

Ladybug Nature Walks in Portland parks for children ages 2-6

Join us for a drop-in Ladybug Walk on a Thursday or Friday morning, mid-February through mid-November! Ladybug Walks are perfect for toddlers, preschoolers, and their grown-ups who want to investigate nature in Portland’s parks! While exploring with a trained environmental educator, children borrow at small Ladybug backpack that contains a few simple tools that make discovering nature easy and fun! Walks introduce children to plants, creeks, insects, birds, and animals. All walks are geared for children ages 2-6 and last about an hour. No pre-registration necessary - just arrive at the meeting spot at 10:00am, rain or shine! Cost is on a sliding scale ($3, $5, or $8 per participating child), no charge for adults – choose what works best for your family!

See where the 2019 walks will take place!

For more info, call 503-823-3601. Printable schedule for the entire year (2019) available. Find the full 2019 schedule in English here.

We offer weekly walks for the general public, but we ask that preschool groups, classrooms, and organizations with more than five children schedule a private Ladybug WalkMore information on Private Ladybug Walks.

All Ladybug Walks begin at 10am and go for about an hour. If you need to leave early because "it's just not working today," we totally understand! If you can’t find the group the day of the walk or are confused where to meet, please call or text 503-477-1823.

Bathrooms at most parks are open April - October. Some are open all year. Some have porta-potties available. Some sites have no bathrooms available, and some sites might have bathrooms that are not unlocked until late morning. In general, we suggest you "go" before you show up, just in case!
