Saturday, November 10, 9:00 AM-noon
Join Johnson Creek Watershed Council, Friends of Trees and Portland Parks & Recreation to plant native trees & shrubs on Powell Butte. Ecological enhancement of this area provides cleaner air for community members and cleaner water in Johnson Creek, which supports salmon and other stream-dwellers. Everyone welcome, and no experience necessary! Wear long thick pants, a long-sleeved shirt and sturdy shoes. Bring a water bottle, rain gear and sunhat. Instruction, tools, gloves, water, snacks and coffee/tea provided. Children welcome and must be accompanied by an attentive adult.
Meet at: Main Entrance, south of Powell Blvd. (Hwy 26 East) on SE 162nd. Turn south onto SE 162nd from Powell Blvd. and follow the entrance road to the visitors center and parking lot at the top of the Butte. Follow JCWC/FOT event signs to the parking area. There will be another volunteer group also meeting on the Butte that morning, who will be following PP&R volunteer event signs to their parking area!
